As Chinese New Year draws closer day by day, so do the many challenges that come along with it.
For example, weight gain from eating all that good food (yee sang and oranges, yum!), being stuck in a massive traffic jam, lack of money due to shopping, and so on.
So, how do you survive these hurdles that Chinese New Year brings?
Why, with our handy-dandy “Ultimate Guide To Surviving Chinese New Year” of course!
Disclaimer: This is a fun guide meant for humour, and in no way are we suggesting that you take any of the following seriously.
1. Overeating
It’s food galore! This is the season where everyone gains weight, together-gether.
What you usually do:
Eat, and eat, and eat some more. After all, it would be rude to refuse an offer of food (that’s what you like to tell yourself).
What you should do:
Don’t sit and eat! Workout WHILE eating! Burn off those calories while ingesting them at the same time!!! *Lunge and chew, lunge and chew*
2. The “Got Boyfriend/Girlfriend Already Not” Question
That ONE question that all single people fear.
What you usually do:
Politely shake your head and say “No, aunty”, “Not yet, uncle”.
What you should do:
Keep repeating the following statement until all questions regarding your relationship status stop completely.
3. Fireworks At Night
Going to sleep when…..
What you usually do:
Complain via social media.
If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!
4. Wearing The Same Clothes
Your cousin’s wearing the exact same “one-of-a-kind” Chinese New Year outfit you purchased online. The HORROR!
What you usually do:
Pray super-duper hard that the clothes you found at the store have not been bought by someone you’ll run into during Chinese New Year.
What you should do:
Ever watched That’s So Raven? Find your inner designer and make your own clothes! Just make sure you have a back-up plan in case your creation is an EPIC FAIL.
5. Ang Pow Giving
Fun for receivers, not-so-fun for givers
What you usually do:
Start putting money aside ahead of time to prepare for the extra amount of cash output during Chinese New Year
What you should do:
Earn a little extra on the side so your pocket won’t feel so empty by Chinese New Year
And there you have it!

You’re so right, planning ahead is key!!! Brilliant
